Case Study: How Canon Activated its Leafs Sponsorship with a VIP Contest

A look at how WILY combined omnichannel marketing with a once-in-a-lifetime contest to help Canon Canada activate its MLSE sponsorship and drive consumers to retail.

WILY helps some of the world's most trusted brands build contests that engage consumers and drive them to retail. Recently, we helped Canon Canada activate its MLSE sponsorship through omnichannel marketing and a one-of-a-kind contest experience. The campaign combined indirect and direct communication channels, websites, retailers, email, mobile, and more, for a unique chance to win VIP Leafs tickets and a Canon camera. Before diving into the case study, let's unpack what omnichannel marketing actually is, and how brands can use it to acquire data and activate consumers.

It's increasingly difficult to know which channels, campaigns, or touchpoints actually drive a customer transaction. But knowing what triggered a response lets marketers assess whether their efforts are delivering real results. Companies with omnichannel customer engagement strategies retain on average 89% of their customers. We're living in a multi-channel, omnichannel world where consumers switch devices constantly (98% of Americans switch between devices in the same day). So integrating your campaigns across multiple channels matters more than ever.
